I really think there are enough podcasts out there that you could join up with as a guest. It's all about getting your name out there and selling your services. I've noticed a lot of podcasts out there that were a pay for service ended up just offering the content for free.
Would I pay? Yes. Probably $0.99 a podcast. But that is because I think that your theories are spot on. And the nuggets of wisdom are worth it. Had I not known about you and your products, probably not.
Been an uphill battle, both ways, in three feet of snow, with newspapers for shoes, but I'm a better man for it!
the most interesting podcast for me would be just listening to you coach someone. i think that's where you really shine. plus I'm getting to the point where I've enough theory for a lifetime.
like interviews with people who are in different places in their lives and in their coaching and you can do a background of how they found MMSL, the lowest point they were at, what you started them on, what improved the most, what they were most surprised about, and so on, and then end with like a quick session of actual coaching on where they are now.

Long term that's the only way to do a very regular show.
"The turnaround is tremendous. And I'm lifting weights, eating better, and tackling projects. I have all this great energy without a vampire sucking my life force. He's a lot stronger standing on his own two feet, as well." - Scarlet
Or just an old school 'call in' show like they do on radio stations, where people call in and get a few minutes to discuss their problems or ideas with Athol. I'd pay $5 or so to listen to that once or twice per month, and I'm sure some of those calls could be converted to coaching clients. Plus, if you build it up enough it has the potential to turn in to a real syndicated radio show. I can absolutely see Athol Kay as the Dave Ramsey of married sex. And one needs look no farther than Dr. Ruth to see Americans have some kind of funny fascination with crossing sexual advice with ethnic accents.
ETA: The other cool thing about doing it that way is that the online format doesn't have to be live. You could have a few set hours per week where you accept calls for the show, and then cull and edit the most instructive conversations for the podcast, or even save and group the so that some podcasts could illustrate specific themes. The added value of you going through the non-instructive interviews and tossing them from the content is what would make it worth paying for (to me).
"My advice to you is get married: if you find a good wife you'll be happy, if not, you'll become a philosopher." -Socrates
My wife used to listen to Dr. Laura constantly. Her show was always engaging because she was talking to live callers. The problem, of course, is that she would throw out pretty dramatic advice after hearing only a sentence or 2 from the caller. I agreed with a lot of Dr. Laura's advice in general, but she was just too abrupt and didn't really listen to or understand the callers actual situations. It often went like this:
Caller: "My boyfriend and I ...."
Dr. Laura: Immediately cuts her off "You're not married! Are you living with him? Are you sleeping with him?"
Caller: "uhhhmmm..."
Dr. Laura: "Ok, repeat after me 'You are shacking up!'"
Caller: "but, let me explain.."
Dr. Laura: Interrupts again "Say it! 'I am shacking up!"
Caller: "Can I just say something?"
Dr. Laura: "No! I've heard enough." Then goes on to give life changing advice
If Athol combined his way of getting to know his clients via the triage/forum/coaching and then had podcast of actual sessions where his clients explain problem areas in their relationships and Athol giving them specific advice. I would be listening to that!
@FlyingDutchman, I agree that would be cool as hell. I just can't figure out how somebody in Athol's position could ever approach clients and ask their permission to record and share the intimate details of their sex life with the world. I imagine he has a lot of coaching clients who are clients specifically because they weren't comfortable sharing those kinds of details in a public forum.

Last I checked 54% of my coaching clients do not have a forum membership, and a further 24% have only a very token one.
That sort of thing wouldn't be attached to the coaching at all.

@mongrel: that was on the blog about a few months ago Feb 12...I particularly liked the "Well, I have already had your cherry..so peach it is" Great stuff
One thing that would be really nice about podcasts where Athol is interacting with married people, it would give the forum regulars more insight on where his thinking is today. I know the basics of MMSL haven't changed, but there is still a lot of advice floating around the forum that Athol seems to have moved away from (that's not an attack on anyone in particular, I do it too). And the basic fact that Athol spends most of his working hours dealing directly with creating and tracking real results in people's lives means he probably has an ever deeper insight to this stuff than he did a year ago.
I understand the forum has grown to the point where Athol can't be as involved, but that also changes how his ideas get disseminated from the main blog to his readers. What used to happen is Athol would come up with an idea or insight and write about it on the main blog, and then somebody in the forum would have a situation that it directly applied to, and Athol would help them work through the new insight in a very public and visible way, then we'd all kick around the new idea for a long time (probably mangling it some in the process) and end up with some practical applications for it.
I am sympathetic to the fact that it just doesn't pay for Athol to be as involved in the forum these days, and the blog doesn't get updated with new stuff as often (and the existing mods do a great job helping folks out with their problems)... but I still feel like the forum (especially newcomers) is missing an important facet when we don't get to see AK actually work his magic first hand as often.
A podcast could go a long way towards addressing this problem, while making it profitable for Athol instead of a time suck.
"My advice to you is get married: if you find a good wife you'll be happy, if not, you'll become a philosopher." -Socrates
I think I can speak for most of us that, if there is one thing we all want, it's for Athol to reap the benefits of his wisdom and also 'awaken' as many people as possible. Though I am very early in the MAP process, if this site did not exist and shock me into realizing there is something I can do to save my marriage, I don't want to think about where I would probably be by now.
I want Athol and Jen to become wildly successful. I think most of us do.
This is an interesting thread...it's taken me a while to come to terms with the old adage "you can't please all of the people all of the time". For all of the "yay! podcast!" reactions, the first two blog comments on the podcast announcement were "podcasts suck, where's the transcript?".
For all of the, "nah, I want my information for free (or 99 cents, which is basically free)" we get, we also get a few "you saved my marriage- I'd pay real money to see you in a video webinar, or live in a seminar...you're cheaper than a divorce lawyer, an ineffective marriage therapist, and misery".
There are new products and new ideas coming. Everything has a plan to it, and we can't develop seven things simultaneously and do it all justice. (plus Athol is just one man, and contrary to rumor he is human) There's the whole "this is our job, there are mouths to feed" aspect. How do you balance free content for valuable fans/friends with making a living and giving paying customers new content and the one-on-one attention they pay for?
The more Athol's fans/friends/clients/peeps support what is going on now, the more ability we have to make bigger and better things happen in the future. That's just the way the business works. (For instance, "everyone" wants a one-day conference/seminar/thing- anyone have an extra $15,000+ floating around to start making that happen? And you know when we schedule one in NYC, there will be people who are offended that we didn't do it in Dallas, or LA, or Toronto. Venues won't give you space for your event for free, y'all.)
I do really appreciate your support of what Athol does...even when I'm in a pessimistic-about-the-world mood like today and can only see the critics. Usually I'm Pollyanna...no, really!

Okay, I really need to be heading to the gym, not running on and on here.
Wow! That podcast was my very first intro to the world of "game" so many years ago. Their basic toolbox (first five or so episodes) are really good for some basic social skills.
@Jen_Kay - I think everyone here realizes that you can only have so many irons in the fire, especially as a small business, and obviously you and Athol have a much better feel for what would provide the best ROI - moreso than any of us in the peanut gallery.
I'm speaking solely as an outsider who listens to podcasts daily - there is a big gaping hole out there for someone (whether you guys or someone else) to do a proper red pill/manosphere/whatever podcast that focuses on LTRs. I've actually thought about doing it myself - I've got the equipment/tech savvy and voice for it - just not the material or the necessary credibility
The long version is... @Jen_Kay got targeted at her job, by someone willing to use MMSL as a tool to leverage at against us. Since that moment I green lit Jen leaving her job, but the reality is I have to replace her income. In order to do that, I've been doing as many coaching clients as I can without falling asleep mid-call.
In short it's been about six exhausting months trying to juggle everything. The reality is I'm just out of energy for writing the blog and my time on the forum as been rather limited to dealing with the least enjoyable elements of running a forum.
I'm only now just getting to a point where I'm caught up and I have a more normal caseload and can start considering actually creating new content seriously. I'm also faced with the reality that I've largely given away what amounts to my entire set of current content for $24 if you get it on Kindle, which is NOT sustainable.
If MMSL is considered one content brand and the Mindful Attraction Plan is considered a second content brand, I have as a minimum another five content brands planned to develop over the next few years. The third one needs to be available in 2014 and honestly MMSL and MAP aren't available on all the platforms I need them to be on. There's a serious issue of brand definition and targeting to contend with as well.
That's about all I can say. There's always a ton of good ideas and well intentioned advice on threads like these, but usually I just want to see how aerodynamic my laptop is while I scream "I KNOW!" when I read them.
I'm acutely aware how quickly I need to grow things. If I don't, someone else with more money will just come along, hijack the content and bury me.
"The turnaround is tremendous. And I'm lifting weights, eating better, and tackling projects. I have all this great energy without a vampire sucking my life force. He's a lot stronger standing on his own two feet, as well." - Scarlet
It was a brave decision for both of you to give up your jobs but all the blood, sweat and tears will be worth it in the end I think. At the heart of MMSL are 2 hardworking, genuine people with a great marriage, a desire to help others and the knowledge to do so. You'll get there.
Those of us who primarily want written material tend to have little patience with video or audio. From my arguments with relatives, non-listeners appear to be people who read significantly faster than human speech. (There are two of us in the in the extended family: not enough for a good sample size, but about five percent of our family.) We're annoying but we're a small group and I wouldn't worry about us when considering audio or video media. A five-hundred page novel is a couple hours of reading for us. An audio or video item would have the potential to reach the non-literate and reluctant readers, and I think there are many more of them then there are of us obnoxious "Can't we have a transcript?" types. The reason why non-listeners are over-represented at the top of the comments, of course, is that we read the post in a tenth of the time it took everyone else! (I didn't comment there: it's a podcast so I'm not the target audience.)

Count me in on the "no patience for a/v". For all the wonderful on-line training at work (all ADA compliant), I go straight for the transcript or subtitles. click, click click, well that 1hr training took 15 minutes, mostly for the quiz that made sure we didn't just go to coffee while it played.
I also used to listen to Coast to Coast AM, but George Noory... could he talk any slower? I'd load a recorded show (4 hours) into Audacity and after filtering some stuff, silences, etc., and then sped it up 25%, I could listen to a show in about two hours.
Lesson, if you're going to make a podcast for Roses and I, make sure to speak like a squirrel on speed.
