... to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste ... Mick Jagger, Sympathy for the Devil, 1968. This was the music I grew up on. I'm 55, married, have two adult children who just finished college, and a wife a year younger than me. We've been married 26 years and were together 6 years before that. I've been lurking here for maybe a year, and have harvested some pearls just from reading the problems of others and suggestions from the gallery.
It would never have occurred to me that I can do almost anything sexually with my wife, as long as I don't ask and just do. My marriage is great, and even better from what I have learned here.
The basic idea that everyone needs to take charge of their own life and look to themselves to make things better is true gold.
My one area of weakness is my weight. I am 6'2" and 253 lbs. I would love to not be overweight again. I can still exercise, but don't find time often enough. It's something that needs to step to the top of my list, and I just haven't made it happen. Any advice to create dieting and fitness momentum is appreciated.
Thanks @Athol_kay for providing this place of growth and learning. When I see a topic I have some info or differing point of view about, I will comment from time to time.

I second the book recommendation. At the very least it will get you thinking about a number of different life areas. But the diet stuff has been very good for me.

Definitely agree with this. Tim specializes in the art of getting results without spending large amounts of time/energy. His kettle workout in the book is a good one and I was very surprised at how sore I was the next day after only a 25-30 min workout.

Thanks for the welcome. I purchased The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss on ebay today, and am eager to read it.
I read most of Tim Ferris's The Four Hour Body book. Thanks @milf_in_training, @kpp, and @RingingTen for the suggestion. There are good ideas in there. Unfortunately it didn't motivate me much.
Then @PhoenixDown introduced me to Fitocracy through the Dangerously Monogamous group, and @Mark72 started the workout and accountability thread. These are GOOD things. I go to the gym 5 days most weeks, play racquetball whenever I can get a game, and work out with the weights most trips. I still hate cardio, but do a little of that too.
The gym had a trial session around Valentines Day with a personal trainer, and I liked it, so I workout once a week with him. He teaches me a few things, and makes me hurt in a new place each week. He does HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), which is mostly fiction because there is NO high intensity in this 56 year old 240 lb body. I have lost 17 lbs since the first of the year, and will continue on my quest of a lb a week. (Most of that is from better diet... protein, vegies, and very minimal starches. Pretty much what Tim Ferris suggests.) I also have as a goal increasing the weight on each machine by 50% over this calendar year. I am at about 20% so far.
Losing weight and working out translates to more testosterone, so sex is great, and even better than a year ago. My marriage is good, and my wife and I are both happy. In fact, she has lost about 20 lbs in the past 6 months also.
The moral of this story is even when things aren't terrible, taking responsibility and pushing forward is still a win. Thanks to everyone here for the inspiration.
