Anyone else digging 'Preacher' - in AMC's Walking Dead/FTWD time slot during the Zombie hiatus? Or am I the only one who is gleefully taking in all the vulgar, violent, sexually charged weirdness? I also have my DVR set to record all Archer episodes, so that may explain things...

Yikes to the ones who actually laid the fish on their boobs! Getting finned is no picnic!
I guess you'd really have to tailor your quarry, depending on...you know...size. I mean, if you're packing 44DDs, that mahi just ain't gonna cover. You'd have to go after tarpon or maybe bonefish.
I would also strongly avoid snoek barracudas...

Thanks Never Again. We are in France now, and fly out of Marseilles tomorrow. I'm not going to lie...I'm a little nervous. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Mrs R is deeply spooked. One of her sisters and BIL are in Nice. They were going to go to the Bastille Day celebrations in the square, but decided instead at the last minute to go to dinner in a hotel off the square. A lucky decision. They saw the truck speed by a window as they were finishing their dinner, and they heard the gunshots. People poured into the hotel fleeing the scene. The hotel was in lock-down until morning. Thankfully, they're shaken, but safe.
My heart is with all of those who are suffering in Nice and elsewhere.
Now my effort to lighten this thread up a smidgen... today's vacation observation, this girl rocks at putt putt. Unfortunately this will not help me in my golf outing Monday considering I haven't pulled my real clubs out all year.
We're back in the US. H was born in the Middle East, so we got our usual "warm welcome" from border patrol complete with bomb sniffers this time.
I wanted to say "well he passed the background check when he bought the sniper rifle just fine", but I tend to practice an extreme form of STFU at the border.

RIP to the fallen officers in Baton Rouge, LA. Godspeed. May the wounded recover fully, and may the cowardly bastards who did this burn in Hell.

I'm not sure where to go with this, so I'll just subject y'all to it. I just want to scream as loud as I can until I lose my voice, but realize that won't be effective.
Montrell Jackson was 32 years old, just welcomed his first child 4 months ago (a son). He just celebrated his 10 year anniversary with Baton Rouge PD. In 2007, he and several other BRPD Officers charged into a burning building with hand-held fire extinguishers in an attempt to rescue a trapped child (FD was on the way). Unfortunately, they were beaten back by flames - all were treated for injuries. He routinely checked on those in need while on patrol. He was president of his neighborhood association - where again he went out of his way to help others.
He had a FB post several days before being gunned down - its garnered lots of reading. In it, he said "These are trying times. Please don't let hate infect your heart".
I'm very much a realist - in fact I am jaded, hardened and cynical. But even I have a hard time wrapping my head around a world where a man - the kind of man who once charged into a burning building with no regard for his own safety - gets gunned down for no other reason than he made a choice to help others, and wore a uniform while doing it. The median salary for a BRPD officer $45K BTW. The other Officers have their own great stories too - read about them.
I don't know what to think of our world today. And I am afraid of the future. So, today, I'll listen to Officer Montrell Jackson, and try to heed his advice.
