I registered with the enneagram institute and I get a daily email with a "tip of the day" aimed at my type. On the other hand, I am also the sort of person who reads my daily horoscope in the free paper so don't take me too seriously.

I'm a 2w3.

The descriptions are eerily accurate.

A couple of snippets:

"You love to be instrumental in helping others achieve their full potential."

"Demonstrative and friendly, you are exceptionally gifted at creating and maintaining relationships. Emotionally astute, you have a way of creating rapport with even the most difficult people."

"Secretly, you can feel needy and vulnerable feeling that you must earn the right to be loved. Avoiding a deep sense of loneliness, you find ways to connect to and be of service to others."

i took the test and am not quite certain how to interpret (or more exactly, apply) the results

type 1 - ****** 6
type 2 - **** 4
type 3 - ****** 6
type 4 - 0
type 5 - **** 4
type 6 - **** 4
type 7 - **** 4
type 8 - **** 4
type 9 - **** 4

what does it mean to be bimodal in two types (reformer / achiever), nothing in one type (individualist), and equal in all other types?

It may be the questions of the test aren't really getting to who you really are. Try a different test. Then read the descriptions. In some books, there are examples like (3s and 1s may look a lot alike, but 3s are more likely to do X, whereas 1s do Y. That can help you determine it.

It actually tells you at the end: "You are X" so there's no guessing.

helps a little, but doesnt really answer what i was getting at ... to me, i get the sense that most folks are scoring very high in the type that identifies them with the other types being way less in score ... contrast that with mine where i got two peaks and almost all the rest the exact same score

is there a 'balanced' type where all the types coexist in roughly equal measure ?

Kinda sorta.

9's tend to be like that to some extent.

You've got a test result that is fairly inconclusive is all.

@signorepillolarossa I don't know...

But on the first one I took, I scored exactly the same on 2 and 8 twice. But both tests put me at 2 instead of 8 even though I had the same scores in each.

Yep we both have read through it. So is the idea like GI Joe - 'knowing is half the battle' Just being aware can help us?

It means that "when he does X" that pisses you off... it's not nearly as personal and hurtful to understand "well that's just to be expected, because that's what a 9 is probably going to do" as opposed to "holy #$%^ he did it again!"

that came out 3w2
the spread was more pronounced among the types on that test too
1w2 was near the top, so i must have a smear across 1, 2, and 3

i wasnt in love with the wording of the questions (but that is typical for an MBTI *NTJ , right?)
