  • Re: Closing the Forum on 12-27-16

Thank you so much for the forum! MMSL is what really started me on my journey of taking answer for my shit myself: I'm still on that journey, and was just today coming back to get Gold and start a MAP-thread. Not going to end it either, even when the forum ends.

If you're a woman, and feel like a small private support group (of max 15 ppl or so) for MAP would feel good on Facebook, feel free to send me a message before the forum closes. I'm not that close to many of you, but I really feel there is invaluable insight on this community that has supported me for the last three years, that I would love a continuum of it in some way.

Thank you so much Athol, Jennifer and Rebecca!

  • Re: Ildundra on the quest of self-improvement

I'm not any wiser regarding my issue in the previous post, but, when in doubt, MAP harder!

These are my reds in my own words. Some of them are mostly under control, but I want to include them as I feel they should be 99% awesomeness instead of 70%. For example, I've been without sugar since last July, and my most commonly eaten "sweet" is banana-avocado-cocoa powder-mash, but i want to totally stop the occasional buying of potato chips and other saboteurs.

    Physicality and health
    - get into regular excercise, no excuses!!!!!!
    - in addition of the walking outside from my daily routines (~5 hours a week), do 3 kettlebell excercises a week (i just learned how!)
    - eat well and cook daily (no sugar or grains or processed food, limited dairy, no circumventing the rules trough chips or similar)
    - eat to drop weight, smart with it.
    - Keep a diary of what and when i eat and how i sleep, exercise, social time, any emotional issues
    - take care of showering, getting laundry done, dressing up to clean clothes

    Money/materials
    - keep the kitchen clean
    - keep my room clean
    - get extra things sold on the second hand market
    - take extra fabrics and books to the school
    - keep an excel of everything i buy
    - stop buying things i don't need or want (extra computer games, potato chips)

    Character and charisma
    - do boldly what i think is good use of time, even if i'm afraid of feedback
    - don't do things i feel the need to hide or am ashamed of
    - stop whining, nagging, complaining, blaming and all negative talk
    - be kind and conciderate, don't do other peoples stuff
"If you're doing something nice for someone, and you're angry about it, you're propably people pleasing"
    - stop demanding and expecting pampering

My Three Monkeys with Extra Attention
    1. Kettlebell-workout 3 timed this week
    2. Keep the diary for a full week of my eating/excercise/sleep/emotional issues
    3. Be boldly honest (but kind) with my actions and words this week.

  • Re: Ildundra on the quest of self-improvement

My new job as a teacher for 12-year olds is intense and interesting, and taking its drain on me. Happy about the job and happy about my winter holiday right now   New things always require energy, but I'm optimistic that I will be able to set up the practices of my teaching so that they align with my values and beliefs, and the children learn both subject skills and broader things like how to learn and how to be nice to each other

I'm getting to play in a big tournament in two weeks in the game, so my first monkey for 14th to 23rd February is to get a lot of practice.

My second monkey is to be kind. Includes stopping displaying low value, and also just being in general a nice person. I've slipped to a lot of bitching when I've been tired, and I want to learn a new way to be me.

third monkey is to get the apartment mainly cleaned, now when i've got holiday, so that it will energize me after it too :)

Assesment of my previous Monkeys (7th January 2015 to 18th January 2015 Goals):

    2. Search for work as a primary school teacher (Money and materials)
Success! I didn't get the one I was talking about last time, but that was good as today I was called I get one for the full spring from beginning of February to the end of May!

    1. Wake up in the morning and go outside for a walk (Physicality and health)
Didn't work very well. On those days I had work, there still wasn't light outside at the time I bicycled to the school, and I didn't do it very often on my off days. Now with the new work, I'm going to get 15 minutes of outside (10min train) + 15 more minutes outside five days a week, and soon it will be light at the time too!

    3. Stop whining, complaining, nagging and blaming other people (Displaying high value)
My random complaints have lessened a lot. I still get into angsty-angry-blaming "fits", working trough them in therapy.

  • Re: 23 and single - what do I need to work on?

Hey Joanna, great goals! It's been really great to follow your journey, especially as I feel I can relate to so much of it as you're in a very similar (although different) life situation

I'm not sure about the formal vs. the informal job market in your field, but I came across an article about showcasing your abilities and so creating the situation where you can be hired to your dream jobs :) It's really meant for people without the required university diplomas, so everything doesn't apply for us, but I thought the advice was that good that I'm going for it even though my field (primary school teaching) in theory has zero informar job market - but usually the truth is that you get invited to the interview by other merits too than your application if they've got a choise on the company.

I think with your writing ability here, you'd have an easy time to showcase your skills trough writing about your subject :) (and if I was you would do that before/instead of applying to non-dream jobs, but I of course can't know what's right for you).

    Keep the spirit high!
    Joanna
