It's great to hear such an upbeat, positive update from you!    All the best to you and your family in the future.   Take care.

I see most of you aren't familiar with the Negan storyline in the comics...

The 'Hello' here is not a 'Hey, there! How ya doin?'.

    Its HELLO?!?!?!?!?!?
after a non-response when someone's arbitrary time-clock for a reply is not satisfied.  Its disrespectful bullshit, and gets treated accordingly.

    Tennee are we sure?

That word is "Hello?". She doesn't do it all the time but it happens enough that I am getting aggravated by it.
The way the OP described it is not in CAPS, and not followed by a bunch of emphasis punctuation.  He also has not come back to elaborate on whether it's being sent 2 minutes after a "Whatcha doing?" text or two hours after a "What time am I supposed to get the kids from Grandma's house?" Kind of text.   We don't know if he habitually fails to respond at all, ever, or shuts down her attempts to touch base when she is looking for connection.     It may indeed be complete disrespectful BS, or it may be somewhat reasonable.   But we really don't know enough to be sure.

I think you're making more of this than you need to.    You didn't specify how long after an original text she starts "hello" ing.    Is it two minutes later or hours?   I think that makes a difference - it's unreasonable for her to expect instantaneous responses when you're working but legitimate to think she'll hear back at some point.

Personally, most all of my communication with my H during the work day is via text (as a teacher I really don't have the opportunity to talk on the phone at work).   If my husband is busy, or if he was in a meeting with his ringer off, or whatever, he may miss the text OR see it and intend to respond after he finishes something.    Sometimes he either misses it or forgets about it by the time he gets finished with whatever prevented him from responding right away.    So maybe an hour or two elapses and I might send a "hello" or "what's up?" text to remind him I exist LOL.  It's not intended to be testy; sometimes it's an answer I need to have and sometimes I am just looking to connect during the workday which we have few opportunities to do.

How do you reconcile your views with going to Jamaica where laws like this exist?   ETA not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand.
