Well, I guess this is goodbye! Thanks to all of you that offered support when I was unable to share all aspects of my struggles IRL and for all the advice, help, and banter over the last 3 years. I wish you all the very best in 2017 and beyond.
My neighborhood looks like a war zone. 2 houses on my street have trees in their roofs, and 2 trees are down in the middle of our cul de sac. Many areas within a 15-45 minute drive of my home are badly destroyed. However, in spite of an enormous limb falling on my roof, the only damage to my home is one cracked shingle. I am so incredibly relieved and grateful. We got power and internet back today.
So my husband isn't a great communicator, and he can be a bit of an asshole , but he is a hard worker and takes care of what needs to be done. He went to work half a day on Thursday and then came home, boarded up all the windows and otherwise secured our home. He made sure we had water, gas in our cars and for the generator, and other supplies. Mr. K always preps for storms thoroughly, but usually he gets way stressed out and goes into the dreaded withdrawal silence. This time, however, he was impressively relaxed throughout the prep she the actual storm (he stood in the garage with the door open watching a lot of it). Maybe he's finally a Floridian In spite of getting called into work yesterday, as of 3 pm today, our yard is entirely cleaned up and all the plywood on the windows is down and put away. Not to mention all of the help he gave to our neighbors. He's a rockstar.
