I'm going to miss everyone.  Thanks Athol for this forum and your insight into personal relationships.  It's been very helpful to me.  Did I mention I'm going to miss everyone?   :'(

He already knows how you feel.  You have communicated plenty in the past.  Just tell him you have no desire to rehash this once again.  Then go do something productive.

  • Re: Forestleaf's Mindful Action Plan

@io that's interesting, because I don't believe I mentioned another candidate.  I'm talking about fear, and gender issues specifically, and how the person whom we chose for office reveals something very telling about who we are and what we'll permit in our society.
Sorry, I was acidentally addressing @amblrgirl's previous comment, thinking it was you.  You two remind me a lot of each other.  Maybe you have similar enneagrams?

However, your comment here speaks to my point.  Neither candidate had clean hands with regard to gender issues.  People voted for other reasons.

Try to imagine if someone else had won.  Now imagine your FB feed.  How many caveats would you hear from the celebrants?  Do you honestly think it would be any different?  Our do you truly think there would be a bunch of people acknowledging that yes she is corrupt and did protect her husband who was a serial sexual abuser, but on the whole this is a really positive development for our country?  I think we know the answer.

People have biases.  They see and acknowledge what they are already predisposed to see and acknowledge.  So a lot of people on both sides saw only the things they liked about their candidate, and either ignored or minimised what they didn't.  I don't suppose that you are corrupt because you wanted competent, experienced leadership and a woman in the office any more than I suppose someone else disrespects women because she wanted different trade deals and enforcement of immigration laws.

    I don't vote, so I don't have a dog in this fight.
